  • You Don’t Need to Use Oven Mitts to Remove the Basket or Clean It

Cons

  • They Don’t Cook as much as Oven Style Air Fryers because they are smaller in size

Oven Style Air Fryers

Oven Style Air Fryers look much like Electric Ovens but much smaller in size that you can use on your Kitchen Counter.

  • You can cook more than one type of food at once like fries on one rack and a whole chicken on another
  • They take longer to cook because of the size of the oven
  • You Don’t Need to Use Oven Mitts to Remove the Basket or Clean It

  • If you are buying a Basket Style Air Fryer, look for a Fryer that has a Square Basket instead of a Round Basket, A Square Basket Style Fryer will have more cooking space than a Round Basket Style
  • We recommend you look at buying a 6 Quart Air Fryer, anything smaller is just in our opinion just not big enough once you start cooking with one it simply has more space that you will ultimately use once you get started with one
  • Keep in mind the higher the wattage of Cooker the quicker the cooking time will be, so keep that in mind if you want your food to cook quicker the higher the wattage the Cooker is the faster cooking time you will get as a result
  • Measure the space on your counter-top, so that you know how big a cooker you to buy and place on your counter
  • Measure the storage space in your kitchen cabinets, so you know how much storage you have if you are going to store it
  • Look for settings that are easy to understand, some units can be complicated to understand the cooking settings
  • Newer models recycle your dishwasher water using less water consumption than previous models

How Often Should i Maintain my Fridge?

It should be thoroughly cleaned every 3 to 6 months, particularly in the spring just before the weather heat and humidity heats up in the summer months.

Fridge Maintenance Tips

  • Clean the Inside of your Fridge thoroughly once a month. Clean the crisper drawers, the inside of the fridge
  • Use Hot Soapy water to clean the fridge rubber door seal and gasket to prevent an air leak in the fridge. There can be food buildup that can dry the door seal over time. Make sure there is no food or stickiness on the fridge or freezer door frame, which can lead to excessive moisture insude the fridge ., and frost buildup in your freezer. Tip: Petroleum Jelly can be used to lubricate ans soften the rubber door seal.
  • Wash and Clean the Freezer and fridge door frame top, sides and bottom.
  • Remove the bottom grate of the fridge and clean it thoroughly before putting it back on.
  • Make a note of your current temperature setting of your fridge, so you can make sure you can reset your fridge to the same setting you had before you turn the fridge off temporarily to clean the back of it.
  • If your fridge has a water line, turn off the shutoff valve to make sure there a no leaks
  • Pull the fridge out from the wall and remove the back panel.
  • Take this time to thoroughly clean the floor, baseboard and the wall behind the fridge. Vacuum up the crumbs, dirt and dust that can accumulate at the back of the fridge over time.
  • Use a condensor brush or soft duster and vacuum cleaner to clean the condenser coil, cooling fan, and surrounding area. You will notice there can be a large amount of dust buildup in this area. If you can reverse the air on your vacuum cleaner to blow air out it will work more efficiently to clean this area. (Make sure you remove the power cord before doing any work).
  • Open and Place a box of baking soda in the refrigerator to help eliminate any excess odours from the fridge.
  • Change your fridge water filter every six to 12 months on average.

Refrigerator Shopping and Buying Tips

1. Consider an extended warranty. If you could buy an extended 10 year parts and labour warranty for $50 would you buy it. Of course, that’s non existent but it makes a point, that if you are buying an expensive fridge, make sure you understand what the extended warranty covers. Look for a warranty that covers the replacement of your compressor, should it fail.
2. Consider a backup fridge in your garage that can add storage capacity, while providing fridge and freezer space should you need a repair on your main fridge
3. The more features you have, the more likely you will have repair issues down the road
4. In- Door Water and Ice makers are known to be faulty over time, so make sure you need one before buying. Samsung brand are known for having issues. GE Opal are known for having reliable ice makers.
5. Look for fridges made in the USA for quality workmanship. You can find the information on the sticker on the inside of the fridge. Countries like Thailand, Mexico or China may not have the same manufacturing standards as USA. You can also find out where particular models are manufactured by going to the manufacturers official website. GE is known for manufacturing some models in the USA.
6. Look for a Freezer ice maker not a Refrigerator Ice Maker

Ice Maker and Filtered Water

If you are wanting to have an Ice maker or Filtered Water, Check to make sure you have an existing water supply to the fridge, otherwise you will need a licensed plumber to run a new water line from your kitchen sink to your nrw fridge. Also make sure you have a shutoff valve installed on your water line, so that you can shut off the water source should there be a leak in the system. If your existing water line is copper pipe, you would need to replace it and upgrade to a new water line. Your local plumber can help determine the requirements you need to hookup a water line with a shutoff.

How many cubic feet of storage do You Need?

Usually 1 bag of groceries is one cubic foot of storage space

4 to 6 cubic feet per adult in storage space for your refrigerator

Choosing the Best Dishwasher for your needs and Budget

Best Dishwasher Buying Guide 2024 Features Tips Buying Advice

General Dishwasher Information

Dishwashers are mainly the same size at 24 inches, there are some that are 18 inches, however we do not recommend them unless you are going to use it in a small environment such as a camper or cottage for example.

A new home has a standard opening of 24 inches for a new dishwasher

What does a Dishwasher Require to Install One In My Home?

New Dishwashers include a Installation Kit that includes a drain hose that needs to be connected to your Kitchen Sink Drain, and a Electrical Hookup to provide electricity to the Dishwasher from your electrical panel.

Can I Adjust the Height of my Dishwasher Easily?

Each Dishwasher comes equipped with adjustable feet or legs that you can easily adjust the height and levelness. We recommend that you use a carpenters level to make sure the unit is level and not lopsided which could lead to premature wear.

Buying & Operating Tips

  • Look for a dba (decibels) rating on each unit to determine how loud the unit operates (the higher the dba or decibels, the higher the noise level will be) 38 to 45 decibels is whisper quiet running
  • Run your Dishwasher only when it’s full to save on Soap and Electricity
  • Run Your Dishwasher after 8pm when energy cists are lower
  • Higher end Units have more operating cycles, Sanitize Cycles, High Heat Wash, Delicate Cycles for things like delicate china, Delay Functions so that you can run your unit when you are not at home or when you are sleeping for example, Steam Features, Dry Boost, Express Wash, wifi downloadable cycles and remote start capability
  • If you don’t use a dishwasher that much, and you don’t mind a higher level of noise, you probably only need a all plastic interior budget friendly unit
  • If you are running your dishwasher when you are not at home, noise level won’t be an issue
  • Check out the Kitchenaid Dishwashers and you will see they provide more space for dishes and utensils with a more efficient third rack
  • Some Dishwashers have fan assisted drying which can speed up the drying process, but may increase the noise level
  • Higher end brands like Bosch have auto-open features, when your dishwasher cycle is completed, the door will open automatically
  • Newer models recycle your dishwasher water using less water consumption than previous models
  • Look for a dishwasher with a plastic disposer rather than a mechanical disposer that disposes food particles. Plastic disposers are cheap to replace bs a mechanical disposer which could become faulty and cost more money to repair
